How to start with OPC UA in ConnectedCooking

This Guide explains in short how to start with OPC UA in ConnectedCooking. Please keep in mind that this guide only refer to our Cloud OPC UA solution.

  • First, you need to create an API Client in our ConnectedCooking Account.
  • Therefore, you navigate in your ConnectedCooking Account into the Administration Tab.

  • Next click on Integrations. (The API Tab is only for Account Admins visible).

  • Then you click on “+ Add new”.

  • In the next picture you give a “ALIAS”, assign a GROUP and choose an API type. For the API queries regarding OPC UA and the data in our with ConnectedCooking connected devices you need the “OPCUA via Cloud interface” API-type. After filling all columns, you click on “Add API”.

  • In the next screen you receive your API client credentials. Please safe them on a secure place and click on close.
  • After you create your API client, you need a tool to use it.
    Therefore you can use for example UaExpert or any other tool you know. In this Guide you will use UaExpert.
  • Please start UaExpert. Then add a new Server via the “Server” button on the upper bar and click after that on “Add…”. Alternatively, you can also just create a new server by clicking on the “+” symbol.

  • To add the server, you must add the server endpoint “opc.tcp://app.connectedcooking.com:4840/OPCUA/ConnectedCooking” via double clicking on the “Custom Discovery” plus symbol.

  • After that you can connect to the server via one of the available authentication methods. For example Basic256Sha256 – Sign & Encrypt (uatcp-uasc-uabinary) by double clicking on it.

  • Next, click on “Connect” via the context menu in the server overview below “Projects”.

  • With the help of your API Client credentials from ConnectedCooking you can now enter these in the credentials screen.

  • Now you can see in the Address Space your Units from the ConnectedCooking Account and show the available OPC UA Nodes.

  • Double clicking on any node shows the corresponding attributes in the upper right corner.

This example can basically be applied to all nodes.


To see a full list of the available OPC UA Nodes check the "OPC UA Spezifikation" which is available in the integrations tab.
